Opinion Story
Some of the AISD rules are a little ridiculous, but this one is by far one of the most ridiculous ones. Getting your phone taken away is a big deal to some kids in school, but then waiting two days, and then having to pay for it to get it back is just stupid.
There is no point in having the kid wait two days and then having the kids parents come and pick it up, but on top of all that they have to pay $15! That may not be a lot of money to some but you are having to pay for something you already pay for on a monthly basis.
One reason why I think that my stance on this subject is correct is that you are already paying for this item, so why should you have to pay for it when you get it taken away. Many of my friends got their phones taken up in the past and had to pay for them, they didn’t think that it was fair for the school to make them pay for something that they own.
Also where does that money even go, honestly it makes no sense why the school would make kids pay money to get their own item back. To be honest no one in the school cares how the school looks. Sure you want to keep a good impression on the kids and parents that it is a good school but it makes no sense why they need more money.
When they take your phone away they eliminate the entire purpose of the phone witch is to reach someone quickly in case of emergency. When you do not have a phone for the two days they do not give it back to you, you can’t do that so your parents are now relying on the school to reach you in time in case of a emergency.
Getting your phone taken away sucks but having to pay for you to get your property back sucks even more. That is why I think that this rule is one of the most unreasonable things in the rule book and should be taken out.
