John Gutmann
         John Gutmann was born 1905 in Germany and died 1998. He was one of Americas most distinctive photographers. He first trained as a artist and a art teacher during his time in Germany. He then moved to San Francisco in 1933, and reinvented himself as a photo-journalist. Since he himself was considered a jew when he lived in Germany he then focused on the minority's in San Francisco. This includes Asian-Americans, African-Americans, and even the Gay community. He was one of the most diverse photographers in the americas. He was also teaching art regularly at San Francisco Collage.
